The Art and Science of the VoiceTrue vocal freedom requires a delicate balance of technical mastery and emotional safety. Vocal Voyages brings together decades of international stage performance, elite vocal pedagogy and rigorous scientific research to offer an entirely unique framework for singers, speakers, songwriters and seekers. Therapeutic aspects will naturally unfold in two ways: 1) healthy vocal usage to enhance resonance and prevent injury, and 2) inner healing inherently occurring through musical engagement, which is particularly powerful when singing.
Our work with your voice centers on the development of vocal technique and performance expressiveness, ensuring your physical instrument is powerful, open and deeply communicative. If you choose to include songwriting to explore your feelings further, our work will include at least a basic understanding of music theory and will focus on the arts of storytelling and self-expression.
The true magic of expressing oneself with the voice and/or with composing lies in its power to heal and to expand oneself. This is a truth central to my extensive background in music, education and psychology, and one recently explored in my autoethnographic, research-based work, “Musical Engagement for Healing is Intrinsic to Being Human: Reflections on Therapeutic Musical Experiences” (published by Intellect Books).
Guided by these insights, I joyfully and intentionally create a warm, supportive space that capitalizes on the inner benefits—both healing and empowering—resulting from musical engagement. Here, technical mastery meets emotional evolution, maximizing your vocal range, your artistic growth and your personal wellness.

Start your vocal voyage now with the 8-session package! (Your first lesson includes a free 20-minute consulation.)
A lesson package is the most effective way to build a strong foundation. Choosing a package ensures consistent progress, structured learning and measurable results—all at a better value than single sessions. Secure your spot to begin a collection of lessons that support your steady growth.
As noted above, your first lesson begins with a free 20-minute consultation to meet you and assess your goals and voice so I can tailor your instruction. Thus, the duration will be 1 hour 20 minutes.
Alternatively, you can start your vocal voyage with one lesson. (As with the 8-session package, your first lesson includes a free 20-minute consulation.)
Though a lesson package is the most effective way to build a strong foundation and offers better value per lesson, it is understandable to want to do a single lesson before making a long-term decision. Go ahead and book a spot to meet and discover possibilities for your future.
As noted above and in line with the 8-session package, your first lesson begins with a free 20-minute consultation to meet you and assess your goals and voice so I can tailor your instruction. Thus, the duration will be 1 hour 20 minutes.

🎵 Navigating Life's Challenges Through the Healing Power of Singing
"Finding a teacher with a Cambridge PhD who can seamlessly pivot from elite vocal mechanics to supporting my daughter's psychological and emotional growth during a major transition has been life-changing. She isn't just finding her singing voice; she is finding her place in the world." — Parent of teen student
"As a high-stress medical professional, I started voice lessons for fun. The emotional release and anxiety reduction were so profound that my mental health therapist told me I could pause our traditional sessions as long as I kept singing. It transformed my baseline well-being.” — Melinda, adult student
“Music provides a safety net spun from heart, breath and vibration. It catches us in classrooms and street ciphers, in practice rooms and hospital wards, asking for no credentials but our willingness to resonate. What my voice students’ experiences, my teen self immersing my soul into Beethoven’s sonatas and the troubled adolescents’ rapping rhymes share – what binds a child’s violin practice to a stroke survivor’s first sung word – is the capacity of music-making to hold space for human vulnerability.” — Edel Sanders, p. 18, Musical Engagement for Healing Is Intrinsic to Being Human: Reflections on Therapeutic Musical Experiences published by Intellect Books, March 2026.
* Please Note: While my published research highlights the cognitive and therapeutic benefits of musical engagement and singing, these sessions are structured as therapeutic music lessons—focusing on both the health of the vocal instrument and the whole person—and do not constitute clinical psychotherapy or formal music therapy.
🎵 Therapeutic Expression Through Voice and Song
“As a vocal instructor, I have encouraged my students to sing wordless passages in a style of their own, whether they are vocalizing their own music or interpreting a song that moves them. This practice can yield a strong therapeutic effect by enabling the feeling and expression of emotions through one’s voice, breath and body. This experience is gently mediated by the creativity and safety inherent in music’s artistic form, enveloped in sonic beauty while existing simultaneously as an external art form as well as a deeply internal experience.” — Edel Sanders, p. 7, Musical Engagement for Healing Is Intrinsic to Being Human: Reflections on Therapeutic Musical Experiences published by Intellect Books, March 2026.

A Fully Online, Global Studio
Distance is no barrier to a full musical experience leading to optimal vocal, cognitive and emotional growth. My studio operates entirely online via high-quality video conferencing, bringing elite Ivy League and Cambridge-level mentorship directly to your home. Here’s two advantages:
The Comfort of Home: Singing can feel vulnerable. Training in your own familiar, private space lowers performance anxiety and allows for a deeper, more relaxed emotional experience and somatic release. This, in turn, supports optimal learning and growth allowing for a holistic educational vocal journey.
International Access: Whether you are a college student in Europe, a busy professional traveling for work in Asia, or a parent managing a packed family schedule in America, you can seamlessly integrate these sessions into your life from anywhere in the world. Below I address questions that may arise:
Inquiries, Illuminated
-
A: Absolutely—in fact, for many students, the online format is highly advantageous. Because singing is a deeply personal and vulnerable act, being in the comfort, safety, and privacy of your own home makes it much easier to release tension, let go of self-consciousness, and focus on the somatic, emotional and artistic experience. From a technical standpoint, modern audio-visual technology allows me to monitor your alignment, breathing mechanics, vocal resonance and expressiveness with the same precision as an in-person session.
-
A: Great question! Traditional voice lessons often focus exclusively on rigid perfectionism and stage preparation. While I teach elite, solid classical technique, my approach is grounded in decades of teaching and research on the cognitive and emotional benefits of singing. Singing naturally regulates one’s nervous system, lowers stress responses, and builds neural pathways for focus, memory and problem solving. By removing high-pressure judgment and focusing on authentic self-expression, the process of engaging in music and expressing oneself becomes inherently therapeutic and healing.
-
A: Traditional talk therapy is wonderful for processing emotions cognitively. Singing, however, is a somatic and emotional experience—it physically releases trapped stress and emotion from the body through breath, vibration and creative expression. Many of my adult students, including high-pressured professionals like healthcare workers, find that activating the voice provides emotional breakthroughs and baseline mood improvements that talk therapy alone may not reach.
-
A: Not at all! Our primary focus is always on vocal technique, healthy mechanics, and performance expression. However, for students who want to use songwriting to process complex thoughts or life transitions, the door is wide open. Using my background in Music Composition from Columbia University, I will guide you safely through the process. No prior writing experience is ever required.
-
A: Yes, absolutely. I tailor my pedagogy completely to the fluid needs of the student in front of me. I have extensive training and experience working with neurodiverse and special needs teens and children as young as 7 to 10 years old. My studio is a warm, supportive, and safe environment designed to build vocal confidence, optimal executive functioning and emotional resilience at a pace that feels entirely empowering for your child.
-
A: Effective and lasting vocal technique, cognitive growth and emotional development require consistency and time. While a single introductory lesson is a fantastic way to explore the studio, the 8-Session Course provides the structural momentum needed to see measurable progress in your vocal technique, your thought processes and your emotional well-being. It creates a dedicated rhythm of self-care, technical proficiency and artistic authenticity.
